This activity keeps my kids occupied for hours, but I’m so frugal that I don’t do it very often.
Set your kids up at the kitchen table with bowls, wooden spoons, cups, etc. and let them pretend to cook up their own gourmet dishes using water and whatever other items in your pantry you need to get rid of (i.e., stale cereal, old spices, expired condiments, etc.)
This is a particularly timely activity if you are moving and need to clean out your cabinets as it lets you a) get rid of all the stuff you can’t move and b) keeps the kiddies occupied while you pack up the rest of your house.
Hope it works for you. Happy cooking, everyone!
Works for Me Wednesday is hosted by Rocks in My Dryer.
My grandkids will love this idea! Gotta pass this on to my daughter-in-law. Thanks!
Hugs!

You are a very brave woman. Braver than I am, I fear. LOL
My boys like to get into my cabinets and it kind of drives me crazy. However, I’m thinking maybe if they take it on the deck I would be okay, LOL!
I will admit that I spend a fair amount of time explaining why we are not going to do this activity for awhile after we indulge. They have loved playing with water and food coloring this summer instead. There are some fun “experiments” that can be done with milk and soap bubbles and oil.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Great idea. I will definately be doing this with my kids TOMORROW…….and get ready for the mess. Hey, with a one and two year old, when don’t I have mess anyway!!!
What a great idea! I hope to be less type A someday so I can do it
I hope you have pictures of this wonderfully creative activity
I love this idea! We are just about to move too so it would be perfect if my daughter wasn’t so young. (16 months) I will keep it in mind for the future though!
Thanks for stopping by and come back sometime!
