She has probably forgotten by now (and hopefully doesn’t think I’m a stalker), but back when BooMama was having a crafty moment with Howard Alex, I mentioned I had the perfect solution for her new and ever-expanding gallery of kid art.
Since our refrigerator is covered with this marble track,
all of our kid-art is hung clothesline-style in the playroom like this.
I saw the idea at a friend’s house, and immediately knew I wanted to steal it try at my house. Please don’t judge the quality of the idea by the state of my playroom. That is another post entirely. The kid art clothesline is easy to change out and looks good in playrooms, kids’ rooms, even kitchens.
UPDATE: OK, it turns out that this is actually a Doesn’t-Work-for-Us-Wednesday tip. As I was lamenting the fact that I thought the pictures just didn’t look that good, my husband admitted that the clothesline kid art, in fact, does not look good. I should have known. See, I couldn’t even write “it works for me;” I should have known when he took down my best-looking clothesline over the couch and hung this there:
I should have known that BooMama, who hosts the tour of homes, whose mother decorates the laundry room, who wore chiffon bows in graduate school, who had her kid paint on CANVAS will not be going for this idea. (I know, stalker. You don’t really need me to go fill out Jules’ blog crush meme, do you?).
I apologize for this complete debacle of a WFMW. I actually have admired this idea in others people’s homes. Maybe it will work for some of you out there, even though it apparently is no longer an option for us–and probably just not BooMama’s style.

Okay, well I think the idea is cute and I may try it myself.
A friend of mine has a cute clothesline idea in her son’s room. Each day she writes a journal entry to her son on a colorful piece of paper and then hangs it up on the clothesline in his room. At the end of the month, she packs away the papers and starts over.
Isn’t that cool?
I do the same thing, and everyone loves it! So don’t you worry about it at all. The important thing is you are displaying your kids’ work! I bet THEY love seeing it there!
This idea is totally cute and I swear I saw a version of it in Pottery Barn Kids.
Just looked it up - it’s called Star Art Cable System and it retails for the low, low cost of $39.. So see, totally cute.
