[...] I will say that I willingly suspended disbelief on the whole “Katie-talks-to-a-guardian-angel-only-she-can-see” thing. I wasn’t sure if that part of the premise might be troubling to some. To me…meh…not a problem. I appreciated the opportunity to dialog with my daughter about such things instead of say, hmmm, why we do not dress like streetwalkers.
These were great links, Lainey. I agree -- it goes way too fast. I'm all for keeping childhood around as long as possible.

Having five girls I have a particular concern to see that they grow up SLOWLY. The world is pushing for girls' attention at younger and younger ages. Thanks for the links, I look forward to reading them.

Keep talking...She'll shake off the crazy eventually; she's got a smart mom :)

I can empathize with you! As much as I try to to mitigate them, these messages still get through.

There was actually a little girl in Julia's dance class, she's three, who was reluctant to eat and told her mom, "I don't want to eat, because I don't want to be fat." The mother was beside herself. I could have wept.

Thanks for the link!

There was a recent post at Femina also about girls and doll-playing; I thought was very interesting and insightful.

My sisters, as very young girls (twins) used to say they were going to be police dogs when they grew up.

We humored them.
